NAGPUR: Black diamond may turn out to be black hole for the city’s economy as Coal Mining Planning and Development Institute Limited ( CMPDIL) has found that large areas around the city have coal reserves. Ministry of coal wants Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) to reserve around 60,000 acres land in the metro region as coal zone. As per law, coal ministry can compulsorily acquire any coal-bearing area. While there is little possibility of urban areas being acquired for mining, the open areas are likely to be affected.
