Between 1901 and 2007, the city registered a mean temperature rise of 1.62 C. The sea level around the island city is rising by 2.4 mm every year.A study conducted by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) affirms the statistics. The cumulative loss of income and infrastructure damage will aggregate to the tune of Rs 35 lakh crore by 2050.
