Google Inc. aborts its ambitious project to make renewable energy cheaper than coal four years after launching its Green Energy campaign.

“To recap, we’re in the process of shutting down a number of products which haven’t had the impact we’d hoped for, integrating others as features into our broader product efforts, and ending several which have shown us a different path forward,” wrote Urs Holzle, Google senior VP of operations in a blog post.

Ever since the Bali Action Plan, 2007, launched the current phase of negotiations under the Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC), parties have been dithering over the legal form that the “agreed outcome” to these negotiations should take. The options range from protocols and amendments that are legally binding and can deliver the benefits of consistent application, certainty, predictability and accountability, to soft law options such as decisions taken by the Conference of Parties (COP), which, while operationally significant, are not, save in the exception, legally binding. This divisive issue is slated to take centre-stage at the Durban conference.

Tesco is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious ‘Green Supply Chain Award’ by The Global Supply Chain Council in China.

The Judging Panel praised Tesco for demonstrating strong environmental leadership and a firm commitment to promote green in China, while the supermarket’s Jiashan Green Logistics Centre in the Zhejiang Province “set and exceeded” its own high standards for environmental friendliness.

Department Of Energy and Climate Change Signals to Increase Energy Bills-24 November 2011, News Tonight
