Jon Huntsman Jr., a former Utah Governor and Ambassador to China, isn’t a serious contender for the Republican presidential nomination. And that’s too bad, because Mr. Hunstman has been willing to say the unsayable about the G.O.P. — namely, that it is becoming the “anti-science party.” This is an enormously important development. And it should terrify us.

In the Arctic, cracks have opened unexpectedly in sea-ice routes the Inuit rely on to track polar bears, caribou and other animals. Each year, the ice melts earlier and freezes later, forcing a shift from dog sleds to boats that require costly fuel. Once-reliable predictions from village elders, based in part on touching and tasting sea ice, increasingly fail.

The Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), a state-owned nodal agency for promotion of renewable energy, has floated a request for proposal (RFP) from the power-producing companies for setting up of 80 Mw grid connected solar PV and solar thermal power projects.

LUCKNOW: Climate change will adversely affect the impact of pests, diseases and weeds. In addition the quality of grains and nutrient-use ability may be seriously affected. While some crops may benefit from the increase in carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere, overall impact will be negative.
